Fireworks Safety
WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - Fireworks may look harmless, and some of them are packaged to appeal to children, but fire officials say they're just not safe. State fire officials are asking residents to leave the fireworks to the experts. Accidents can happen even if you're not the one holding an explosive device. Even fireworks that don't explode, like sparklers, can result in injury. You may not realize it but the tips of sparklers can easily get up to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s hot enough to cause some serious burns. Fire officials say your safest bet this Fourth of July is to leave it to the professionals. There are plenty of fireworks displays planned this weekend throughout western Massachusetts. For a complete list of schedules in our area, click on the 4th of July picture on our right sidebar.
