Dr. Richard T. Martin  is here in  Springfield,  Massachusetts  to work in the field of Hand Surgery.

   Dr. Martin attended Hofstra University  graduating with honors in   in  Biology,  A Dean's list graduate, he then pursued his medical education, in Syracuse, New York at SUNY  Upstate Medical Center.  He interned in General Surgery for one year followed by a residency in General Surgery at  Baystate Medical Center here in Springfield. .  Following  his  Baystate Chief Residency year he spent two  years as a fellow in Plastic  Surgery  at the University of Kansas Hospitals.  Dr. Martin then spent an additional year of training as a  Hand and Upper Extremity Fellow at the University of  Pittsburgh Medical Center.  

Dr. Martin  is licensed in Massachusetts.

He is on the  staff at Baystate Medical Center where he takes call as a member of the Hand Service.  Dr. Martin also has privileges at Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, where the Hand Center has a  part time satellite office as well as Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton and Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. At the Pioneer Valley Surgicenter  which  is directly below the Hand Center offices in Springfield  Dr. Martin is privileged  as well.

Dr. Martin  is board certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and has an additional year of fellowship training in hand surgery.   His training in both Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery brings extensive expertise to his chosen field of Hand Surgery.  He has written  and co-authored numerous papers and studies. While a Plastic Surgery Fellow he was voted by the hospital staff as one of the best residents.  We are extremely pleased to have a surgeon of such  comprehensive training at  the Hand Center of Western Massachusetts.

Dr. Martin cares for  all topics related to the Hand and Wrist.
